Board Members

Dr. Price Edmiston is a Perioperative Clinical Pharmacist at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, KS, specializing in trauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, ENT, and urology services. He obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. Upon graduation, Price completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Research Medical Center. Price joined the GKCSHP Board in 2023, serving as Membership Chair, followed by terms as Treasurer and President-Elect. His professional interests include trauma, critical care, and resident professional development. In his free time, Price enjoys spending time with friends and loved ones, traveling, and watching movies and sporting events.

Dr. Amelia Gooch is a clinical pharmacist at Saint Luke's East Hospital (SLE) and is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. At SLE, she serves on the Obstetrics Evidence-Based Practice Team and Clinical Professional Practice, Quality & Education Council. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy at University of Missouri – Kansas City then completed her PGY1 residency at Olathe Medical Center. She previously served on the GKCSHP Board as the Membership Chair and Social Media Chair. Outside of work, Amelia enjoys reading, baking, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.

Dr. Tyler Whitehead is a Senior Consultant Pharmacist at HCA Healthcare and serves as Treasurer for the Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP). He completed his PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership with HCA HealthTrust – MidAmerica Division in Shawnee, KS, and his PGY1 Residency at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Regis University in Denver, CO.

His professional interests include regulatory and compliance, medication safety, pharmacy advocacy, and investigational drug services, with a special interest in oncology. Outside of pharmacy, Tyler enjoys painting and spending quality time with his friends and family.

Dr. Emily Mueller is an Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager for University Health Kansas City. Dr. Mueller earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy in 2020 and completed her PGY1/2 in Health System Administration and Leadership at the University of Kansas Health System in 2022. During residency, she also earned her Master of Science in Pharmacy Practice from the University of Kansas. Dr. Mueller’s professional areas of interest include controlled substance diversion prevention, compliance, automation, and mental health and wellbeing.

Dr. Louis Lipari is a Clinical Pharmacist III at Saint Luke’s East Hospital, now part of BJC HealthCare, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. A Kansas City-area native, he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University and completed his postgraduate residency training at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City on the Plaza.

Outside of work, Louis enjoys spending time with his wife, Melinda, and their first child, whom they welcomed in August. He is an avid Kansas City sports fan and a Kansas City Chiefs season-ticket holder. He also volunteers at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in Overland Park.

Louis looks forward to continuing his service as GKCSHP treasurer and supporting the organization’s upcoming programs and events.

Dr. Rachel Hilborn completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Children's Mercy Kansas City in Missouri and her PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond, Virginia. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, completing coursework in both Austin and San Antonio, Texas. Prior to pursuing pharmacy, she received a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Trinity University in San Antonio.

Dr. Hilborn joined the GKCSHP Board in 2025 and currently serves as the Medication Safety Coordinator for Children's Mercy Hospital Specialty Pharmacy in Kansas City, Missouri. Her professional interests include pediatric pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and pharmacist professional development.

Outside of her professional activities, Dr. Hilborn enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and practicing needlepoint.

Dr. Jack Roberts is a 2020 graduate of Missouri State University and a 2024 graduate of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He recently completed his PGY1 residency at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in 2025. He is an avid sports fan and outdoorsman, and enjoys playing as much golf as possible. He currently is a clinical pharmacist at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri. 

Ernesta began working the night shift at Research Medical Center Inpatient Pharmacy in October of 1996. She earned her CPhT certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) in November of 2001 and currently works as Lead Technician/Buyer at Research Medical Center. Currently she is the DESO (Department Employee Safety Officer) for the pharmacy and she recently accepted an additional role and now oversees the HD sterile compounding space in the central pharmacy. Ernesta recently earned her PTCB CPhT-Adv certification. Her long-term goals are to continue to earn more certifications and provide support to her pharmacy team members, by training the new technicians, and tutor her peer who have shown an interest in taking the PTCB certification exam. Ernesta is an active member of the department party committee (party patrol), and most recently had a successful planning and supporting, Take Your Child to Work Day. In her spare time Ernesta loves to read, cook, craft and volunteer with various charities. 

Dr. Thomas Maldonado is a PGY1 pharmacy resident at the Kansas City VA Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Before working for the VA, Thomas worked for the University of Kansas Cancer Center for three years as a pharmacy intern. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Kansas in 2026. In 2024, he was awarded Student of the Year by GKCSHP for his work within the organization as the KU SSHP Student Liaison.

Thomas' professional interests include ambulatory care, oncology, and hospital administration and leadership. In his free time, Thomas enjoys quality time with his fiancée, Meg, and their dog, Ivory, as well as being outdoors, golfing, and watching movies/sporting events. 

 Kamryn is a PGY1 pharmacy resident at The University of Kansas Health System Olathe Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Pharmacy, where she developed a strong interest in health-system pharmacy, internal medicine, and professional involvement. As GKCSHP Social Media Chair, she looks forward to highlighting the organization’s members, opportunities, and accomplishments while helping increase engagement among pharmacy professionals across the Kansas City area. Outside of pharmacy, Kamryn enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and going to the lake.

Shelby Hering is a third-year student pharmacist at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Pharmacy with a strong interest in ambulatory care. She serves as the GKCSHP Student Liaison to UMKC’s Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) chapter, connecting students with GKCSHP and promoting professional development and networking opportunities throughout the Kansas City area.

Shelby also serves as president of the UMKC SSHP Kansas City chapter, leading its general membership and executive team meetings. In addition, she is the Patient Care Vice President for UMKC’s Kansas City chapter of the American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), helping coordinate community outreach events and advance the organization’s patient care mission.

Shelby currently works in an inpatient pharmacy in Kansas City, Missouri, and plans to pursue postgraduate pharmacy residency training after graduation.

Thomas Barton is a third-year student pharmacist at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy with a strong interest in hospital pharmacy. He currently serves as the GKCSHP Student Liaison to the KU School of Pharmacy SSHP chapter, where he helps connect students with GKCSHP and promotes opportunities for professional development and networking throughout the Kansas City area. Thomas also works in a hospital pharmacy in Lawrence and plans to pursue a pharmacy residency following graduation.

Dr. Christine Tafoya is an Emergency Medicine & Critical Care Pharmacist at The University of Kansas Health System - Olathe Hospital in Olathe, KS. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy at Creighton University and received residency training at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. She then served as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist in St. Joseph, MO for three years, and then as a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO until 2023. Her professional interests include resuscitation, trauma, ECMO, PK/PD in critical illness, and medication safety. She enjoys precepting and serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at KU School of Pharmacy. Dr. Tafoya is actively involved with several pharmacy organizations including Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP), Greater Kansas City Society of Health System Pharmacists (GKCSHP) and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). 

Dr. Brandon Florey is a PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) resident at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, before completing his PGY-1 acute care pharmacy residency at Saint Luke’s. His professional interests include medication-use policy and pharmacy operations. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys watching sports, exercising, and spending time with his fiancée, Rena. He is excited to serve in his role as Program Coordinator-Elect.
